How Do I Get Paid as a Host?
📌 How Do I Get Paid as a Host?
After completing the hiring and audition process discussed in the “How Do I Become a Paid Host?” section, you will receive an official confirmation from Showtime Agency once you have passed your audition and been accepted.
From that moment forward, your payments depend on you meeting the requirements set by BIGO Live or whichever platform you are hosting on.
Live-streaming apps typically pay hosts on either a monthly or weekly basis. During onboarding, you will choose your preferred payout option. Each option has different requirements you must meet to receive your full payment.
For BIGO Live, there are two key requirements that every host must complete to get paid:
1) Gifts (“Beans”)
2) Streaming Time (Hours)
Below is a detailed overview of how both work.
1️⃣ GIFTS (Beans) – How You Earn Money
When you go live as a host, viewers have the option to send you virtual gifts. These gifts appear as animations on your screen and have real monetary value.
Here’s how it works:
• Viewers purchase gifts using real money
Every gift has a different value depending on its type.
• Gifts convert into “Beans”
When you receive gifts, BIGO converts them into a virtual currency called beans, which are deposited directly into your wallet in the app.
• Beans can be cashed out
You can convert your beans into real money and send the funds to your bank account.
• Beans also determine your monthly or weekly salary
To receive your base salary and gift earnings, you must meet a monthly or weekly bean requirement, depending on your payout type.
• New hosts get lower requirements at first
Most apps, including BIGO, set lower bean requirements for new hosts during their first two months so they can learn the platform, gain confidence, and build an audience.
• Higher bean levels = higher pay
Every month, there are several bean “tiers.”
The more beans you earn, the higher your tier — and the higher your pay.
There is no limit to how high you can go.
2️⃣ TIME – Streaming Hours Required
Every live-streaming platform requires hosts to complete a certain number of live hours each month or week. These hours must be met to receive your full pay.
Here is how BIGO Live typically works:
• Monthly hour requirements can range up to 56 hours
New hosts often start with lower hour requirements for the first two months.
• Standard month requirement afterward is around 30 hours
This varies based on your bean tier.
• Higher tiers may require more hours
Example: If you hit a high bean tier, the app may require additional hours to pay you your full tier salary.
• Minimum time counted per day: 30 minutes
Even if you stream for 5 minutes, the app only counts 30 minutes as the minimum. Once you have completed the minimum time, you can break your remaining time however you choose that day. The next day, your time will start over again.
• Maximum time counted per day: 2 hours
Streaming more than 2 hours is allowed, but only 2 hours count toward your official requirement.
• You must stream at least 15 days per month
You do not have to stream every day — you choose the days that work best for you.
📅 Weekly Pay Option (BIGO Only)
BIGO also offers a weekly payout option.
For weekly pay, you must:
Stream a minimum of 6 hours per week
Reach the required weekly bean amount (varies by tier)
You can switch between monthly and weekly payouts if you decide one works better for your schedule.
📘 Example: How to Reach Your Hours
Let’s say your tier requires:
35,000 beans, and
32 hours for a 30-day month
Here are two examples of how you could complete your hours:
Option A:
Stream 2 hours a day
For 16 days
= 32 hours total
Option B:
Stream 1 hour a day
For 28 days
And stream 2 hours for the remaining 2 days
= 32 hours total
You can also break your time into smaller sessions:
Example:
30 minutes in the morning
1 hour 30 minutes at night
= 2 hours for the day
Your schedule is flexible — the key is to meet your hour requirement within the guidelines listed above.
